The Little Abode - Catering
Service Level Commitment & Terms of Service
This Service Level Commitment and Terms of Service covers The Little Abode catering &
delivery service of ready to eat food to clients from 1st January 2020. It is our declared
commitment to you, our client, of the standard of food and service you can expect from us
and, in a few cases, what we expect from you.
We will provisionally hold the agreed date for you for 7 days
Please read and make your deposit payment to secure your booking.
You will need to confirm your final menu, event numbers and any special requests at
least 14 days prior to the event so we can prepare properly for your event.
Scope
Menus covered by this commitment and terms are all set menus created for clients aswell
as catering of breakfasts, tea and suppers from The Little Abode, Marton.
The Little Abode
With the exception of catering from our own premises this is a drop off catering service,
with no on-site preparation, cooking or waiting service.
Food Quality
We will always bring you interesting, simply prepared, flavourful, “homemade” food, made
specifically for the date of consumption.
Food Safety
Our food safety procedures are audited through being Registered as a Food Business with
our local authority, Ryedale District Council. At this time we await our first inspection. (July
2020) Our kitchen management have Level 3 Food Safety Qualifications, approved by
Environmental Heath Officer, CPD Service and the Institute of Hospitality.
When catering offsite it is the client’s responsibility to ensure that suitable facilities are
made available for preparing, cooking and serving the food from. This includes suitable
surface area and oven facilities. Any equipment we feel is required in order to produce the
chosen menu will be charged to the client.
Seasonal Menu Changes
We flavour your experience with us by changing our main menus constantly. This seasonal
change is of course used to incorporate seasonal UK ingredients. Naturally you will also
see some ingredients like berries, asparagus, root vegetables, drop off our menu when out
of season.
Food Ingredient Suppliers
Our food suppliers are a very important part of our ability to bring you the best quality and
most environmentally friendly food. Because we make virtually everything ourselves we
buy raw ingredients – meat, fish, vegetables, fruit and dry goods. We buy our fruit and
vegetables ourselves local suppliers. All our meat is sourced from Grid Iron and is local
North Yorkshire Native breed and fish is UK sourced from Hodgsons. All Our suppliers will
be as close to us as possible – they are on average not more than 11 delivery miles from us.
Presentation Styles
The food is exactly the same but within the Delivery Service the food will come to you on or
in compostable/recyclable/reusable packaging. We avoid waste in all we do and hope you
will join us in doing so too. Please dispose of these platters in your food waste.
Serviettes & Plates
Crockery, cutlery and glassware are not supplied unless specifically ordered and will be
chargeable.
Substitutions
Substitutions may rarely have to be made on the delivery day without notice.
Allergens & Dietary Requirements
Our food is generally always presented on platters with vegetarian food on separate
platters and labelled accordingly. We will ensure that any special dietary requirements
and/or allergies are catered for but should requirements not be given in writing to the us at
least 48 hours before delivery we will not be able to accommodate. these requests.
If any of your guests have particular dietary requirement please state this at the time of
ordering. We can not accept responsibility consumption of allergens should I not have
written confirmation that there was people eating with allergies.
Equipment Loan and Hire
You may have hired, or we may have loaned you some equipment (e.g. platters, jugs, bowls)
as part of your catering requirement. This equipment remains the property of The Little
Abode and must be kept for our collection, generally on the same afternoon of delivery or
the following day. Any breakages or loss of equipment will be invoiced at cost.
Equipment Collection
Please gather together the equipment loaned or hired by you ready for collection. It does
not need to be cleaned. If it is not ready or available for collection an additional collection
may be chargeable.
Cancellations
Cancellation of an order must be made in writing and booking deposits are non refundable.
Upto 14 days before: full refund offered excluding the initial booking deposit
Within 14 days of catering;: Client will be expected to pay for any ingredients already
bought and any time already spent in preparation., otherwise a refund on any money paid
will be refunded (excl. Initial Booking deposit)
Delivery Time
We aim to deliver your order as close to your requested delivery time as possible but
always within the one-hour period before your stipulated delivery time. Please make sure
there is always refrigeration to store chilled foods in and that there is someone present to
accept receipt of the food.
The Delivery
Our driver will deliver the food to where you need it in your building. If there is no-one
there to show us, we will leave it in a safe place. We will not be able to help with laying out
and will not be able to wait more than 20 minutes.
Omissions and Errors.
We are human and despite the best systems and efforts to avoid it, a mistake may very
occasionally happen. If there is something missing or incorrect on your order do contact us
immediately as we will want to rectify it if we can. If the mistake is of our making we will
make no charge. If we have delivered according to the order confirmed we may charge for a
delivery if required
Pricing
We always aim to be competitive in our pricing and are confident you will consider our food
and service to be extremely good value. If you have a bespoke set menu the price will be
agreed ahead of delivery
VAT
Vat is not chargeable.
Minimum Order
We require a minimum order value of £150 per day for our catering.
Invoicing
You will be emailed all invoices:
1) A no refundable booking deposit
2) a first instalment 1 week before your event
3) a balance payment after the event has finished or after the first week (whichever is
sooner and
4) a final payment for longer catering periods on the final day of catering.
Your invoice will be emailed, to the orderer or another nominated recipient e.g. your
accounts dept. In any event please ensure the invoice is made available to your accounts
payable department to allow timely payment.
Insurance
Effecting and maintaining insurance cover in respect of the following risks
arising from the provision of the Catering Services:
(a) employer’s liability cover but not for more than £10 million in respect of
any one occurrence; and
(b) public and product liability (including cover in respect of food poisoning
and deleterious substances in foodstuffs and beverages due to the negligence
of rhubarb) but not for more than £10 million in respect of any one incident or
period of insurance; and we shall have the right to make any changes to the
Catering Services which are necessary to comply with any applicable law or
safety requirement, or which do not materially affect the nature or quality of
the Catering Services
Data Protection
We will process any personal data collected from the Customer for the purposes of
administering the booking for the Event. We may also process such data to provide the
Customer from time-to-time with information on other services that it provides and other
events organised by us if we feel that it will be of interest to the customer. We will not give
your details out to any third parties
Social Media and Marketing
As part of our service and operations, we respectfully request to use images and
information from your event for social media and marketing purposes. This may include our
website, brochures and other sales tools. This includes images of you, your guests and your
event (preparation, decoration and deployment). If you are not happy for us to do so, please
mark the box at the end of this contract.
Terms of Payment
All orders placed with us must be paid for by debit or credit cards on receipt

Husbandry & Provenance
All our meat and fish are UK sourced. For all animal or fish sourced ingredients we aim to
achieve the best possible husbandry for each category.
Fish: MSC – Yellow rated fish or better
Beef & Lamb – UK/ROI Free Range
Pork – UK Free Range
Poultry – UK Free Range
Eggs: freedom food RSPCA certified free range
Our fruit and vegetables are UK sourced when available.
